Before you start

Prepare a dcld-sk- API key and verify group, model permissions and spendable balance. Coding agents need confirmed tool support. Address fields differ by client; follow the matching guide.

Create a model alias

Create an alias such as decloud-opus in console → API Keys → Model aliases, mapped to an authorized tool-capable model, or configure an actual API ID. Avoid reserved short names such as opus, sonnet, haiku and fable: verified CLI versions rewrite them locally.

Set three environment variables

Check the actual model

Claude Code is a client; an alias name does not turn a model into Claude. Output comes from the selected target model, with its capabilities and pricing. The compatible endpoint translates protocols internally and does not implement all Anthropic features.

Token counts are estimates

Claude Code automatically calls /v1/messages/count_tokens to decide when to compact context; the number it returns is a character-based estimate, not an exact tokenizer count, and is never what you're billed on.
